Multicam Editing Tutorial
Multicam Editing Tutorial
About This Project
This is a reproduction of a short training video I did for a role at a previous company. It covers the basic process that was used to create a multicam sequence in Adobe Premiere Pro.
The Problem to Solve
This process was part of the project setup that Assistant Editors would do. Once in a while, though, an Editor would need to set up a Premiere Project from scratch. They would often not remember how to set one up, so they asked for a quick video on how that works as a reminder.
The Solution
The full solution had multiple parts to it. The first was to determine what processes that the Assistant Editors do that are necessary to start a project. This was done with assistance from the Managing Editor. Once we had that information, we needed to create documentation on the internal Wiki. This page would have a detailed, step by step process for how projects would be set up. Lastly, this video would serve as a resource to watch the process in action.
Audience: Video editors
Responsibilities: Scripting, recording, voiceover, video and audio editing, upload to wiki
Tools used: Camtasia 2023, Adobe Premiere Pro, Studio One 5
Observations and Opportunities
This recreation was made using my old notes for the original video. It was created in Camtasia 2023, a newer version of Camtasia than I was used to. During development, I underutilized the tools in Camtasia. Some of these include using the “generate keystroke callouts” function to auto-generate the keystrokes on screen, and using Animation to creatively introduce boxes and other on screen elements.
The audio editing functionality of Camtasia is lacking, so I exported the audio and used Studio One to professionally edit the voiceover.
